Daniel Gordon (born 1968) grew up in a very proper Jewish household, but it was always the movies that fascinated him. This love affair for costume and monster-making began when he got a job as the gofer for the assistant makeup artist for the movie [[wp>Creepshow]] when he was in High School. For the next several years he worked in the movie industry and survived his mother's guilt about not having a proper job. Unfortunately for him, Daniel was simply born 10 years too late - CGI was arriving on the scene.

Determined not to fail he turned his talents into a career as a beautician, which nearly sent his mother to an early grave. By 1999 he went into business with his long-term partner Richard Marks, causing his mother to suffer a "heart attack" when he told her of their relationship, founding the salon [[locations:Allure]]. There are currently 3 Allure salons in Pittsburgh and while Daniel is no longer in a relationship with Richard they still remain very good friends and business partners.

In 2011 Daniel sold all but 10% of his stake in Allure to Richard and used the money to open up his dream business specializing in high-end costuming. Originally named //Grodno's Theatrics//, in 2012 it was renamed [[locations:Hollywood Costumes]] and has now become the premier place in the Greater Pittsburgh area for super heroes to get their costumes.
