They have a base at an abandoned factory at the corner of Penn and 32nd Streets. They tend to be left alone because some booby traps have been known to cause injury to filchers.

The Nye Guys are a loose collective. The leader varies over time, depending on which of them can't dodge the paperwork. The current leader is Hugh. He has only been in charge for a few months.

While the name “guy” implies male membership, both men and women are associated with the group. Also, despite the name of the group, bow ties are also seldom worn by them any more.

Over the last few years, they have been known to help the City Watch and the Flying Elvii on occasion. They have also been known to stage robberies when they were unable to procure needed supplies for their experiments legally.
